TJFS U12 at Sugar Bowl
March 22-23, 2025 - The U12 Tahoe Junior Freeride Series events showcased the next generation of freeskiing and snowboarding talent. The competition was filled with outstanding performances, high energy, and a clear demonstration of the bright future of our sport. The vibes were high throughout, with athletes pushing their limits and displaying exceptional skill in varying conditions.
Saturday, March 22 - Overcast with Soft Snow
Saturday greeted competitors with overcast skies and soft snow conditions. While the snow wasn’t firm, the soft surface posed its own challenges, creating a dynamic environment for the athletes to showcase their creativity and technical abilities.
In boys snowboard, Finn Cullerton delivered an impressive performance, securing 4th place with a smooth, confident run that stood out for its fluidity and style. Over in the girls ski competition, Ari Stevens earned 8th place with a strong and technical run, navigating the soft snow conditions with skill and composure.
The boys ski event was split into two panels, and both panels produced remarkable performances. In Panel A, Charlie Beck landed in 8th place with a solid run that demonstrated excellent control and clean execution. Meanwhile, in Panel B, Evan Fletcher placed 6th with a smooth descent that showcased his growing skill, while Rio Wigglesworth finished in 8th, delivering a creative and technical run full of energy.
Sunday, March 23 - Sunny and Soft Conditions After a Hard Freeze
Sunday brought sunny skies and softer snow conditions after a hard overnight freeze, allowing the athletes to take advantage of the more forgiving surface. The clear weather created a positive and energizing atmosphere for both the competitors and spectators.
Boys ski saw Elan Tanhoff take 5th place with an impressive run full of speed, precision, and solid technique, while in boys snowboard, Finn Cullerton continued his strong performance, securing 5th place with another fluid and stylish run.
This weekend’s competition was a testament to the phenomenal talent coming up in freeskiing and snowboarding. Despite varying conditions, the young athletes showed resilience, creativity, and technical prowess that promises exciting things for the future of the sport.
