When you're training to compete at the collegiate level and get on the U.S. Ski Team, you need a lot of land. And we have it. More than any other school in North America.
You'll train daily at Royal Gorge Cross-Country Resort, which has 200 km of Nordic trails spanning 6,000 acres of terrain. You'll also have access to the Auburn Ski Club Training Center, Tahoe Donner XC, and many low-altitude training sites.
Yes, you can expect lots of training—all based on your individual needs. It's how we'll prepare you to become state champions, compete at Junior Nationals, race SuperTour events, race at U.S. Nationals, and qualify for international competitions. Here, you can choose your path. And have all the space you need to explore it.
The team trains together year-round and often joins other clubs and teams for training sessions and camps. Team training camps include Fall dryland on the California Coast, on-snow in West Yellowstone, and one summer camp. In addition, we regularly send athletes to the Western Regional Elite Group camp, USSA National U16 camp, USBA Development camps, and others. The race schedule varies from year-to-year, but will include opportunities at US Nationals, Western Super JNQ, and other regional races in the West.
Our Biathlon program is run in conjunction with the Auburn Ski Club Training Center. Our coaches work together with Biathlon Coaches to develop training and race plans for individual athletes. SBA athletes have the opportunity to practice their shooting 2-3 times per week and to attend multiple camps/trips that target pursuing their biathlon goals. We regularly support the training sessions with SBA coaching. Biathletes will have the opportunity to race locally, regionally, and Nationally. We have had several athletes qualify for the World Youth/Junior Biathlon Championships as well.
