• Is my child ready to join SBSTA?

Our program requirements vary by discipline and age. Our youngest athletes should be able to put on skis and load/unload safely from a chair lift before joining a ski team. Review the disciplines for more information about requirements for our programs.

  • Are the academics rigorous enough?

Yes! Our full-time winter and full-time academy programs offer rigorous college-preparatory courses designed to prepare your child for college. Our graduates go to the colleges of their choice, including the best private and public universities.

  • How much will my child ski?

The number of days on snow varies by program and age. Our ski teams average 45 days of skiing per season. Our full-time programs average 100 days of skiing per season, and our full-year academy athletes also train during the off-season.

  • Can I still participate in other sports?

We encourage athletes to continue their pursuit of other sports and cross training provides a wealth of benefits. Full-time athletes may participate in other sports during the off-season. We will work with full-time athletes who want to continue in other sports.

  • What college opportunities will I have?

Colleges love SBSTA athletes! The grit, grace, and courage required to pursue competitive skiing are characteristics that differentiate SBSTA athletes from other applicants. Graduates go on to schools like Harvard, Cornell, Bates, Berkeley, and many more.

  • Is financial aid available?

SBSTA offers need-based financial aid and some scholarships based on athletic merit. Additional scholarships and sponsorships are available from outside providers. Learn more about financial aid.
