Andrew Becker
Alpine U16 Head Coach
Andrew is the Alpine U16 Head Coach for Sugar Bowl Academy. Originally from Minnesota, Andrew grew up skiing on the small hills around the St. Croix River. He competed in Alpine for Northern Michigan University, attending USCSA Nationals twice and leading the team as Treasurer and President. Andrew earned a BS in Sports Science, which included original research on alpine skiing starts and the physical variables that lead to success.
Andrew worked for Ski and Snowboard Club Vail as a U16 alpine coach and strength and conditioning coach. During his time in Vail, Andrew worked with the U.S. Ski Team during early season training, helping support athletes from the A, B, & C Teams. Andrew also had the opportunity to participate in a U16 exchange program with an Austrian Regional Ski Academy, helping building a deeper understanding of Alpine development from around the world. During his time at Vail Andrew coached athletes that excelled at both the regional and national levels, including one athlete that went on to win the U16 Nationals Women's Slalom. During his later years at Ski and Snowboard Club Vail, Andrew later worked as a men's FIS coach, helping support four athletes from this team to make the US Ski Team.
During his time at SBA, Andrew has coached numerous SBA athletes to Regional & National Projects and races, U16 Western Regionals, and U16 Nationals while serving as U16 head coach. In the spring of 2022, Andrew supported the US Ski team men's Speed team during late-season training. He is a U.S. Ski & Snowboard Level 200 Alpine coach and completed a human performance mentorship with EXOS in 2019.
