Welcome Vic DeMaio, Head Freeski Coach

Vic has been competing on skis since age 6. His parents took him and his sister skiing every weekend as soon as they learned to walk, causing them to quickly fall in love with the sport.

Vic attended Killington Mountain School in VT, where he earned spots to regional championships and JOs. Soon after, he turned his focus to freeskiing, competing in new parks, and exploring new terrain.

Vic graduated with a BS in teaching, then moved to Lake Tahoe to pursue Freeski coaching. After being awarded for high performance by local programs he eventually went on to build training programs of his own with The High Fives Foundation and Woodward Tahoe. Vic has trained and coached alongside some of the best in the sport and is excited to take his skills to a higher level of athletics and passion with SBA Freeski!

Academy Awards - March 25, 2025

It's time to get hyped for the second-ever Sugar Bowl Academy film competition, the Sugar Bowl Academy Awards! We hope all of our full-year and winter term student-athletes will join us for this Oscar-style ceremony hosted in Village Hall. This is a night to showcase athletic and filming/editing talents. Nominated and winning films will be shown, and student-athletes have a chance to win prizes. A distinguished panel of faculty judges will nominate four student films per category, and one winner will bring home the “Oscar” of their respective category.  A panel of students will judge faculty films.

Volunteer Deposits - Prior Year Teams

Volunteering has always been an essential part of our team program. Volunteers support the safety of our athletes on the mountain, help competitions run smoothly, and assist our staff in countless ways. We greatly appreciate the many hours our families give each season to support our programs.

This year, we revised the volunteer program and eliminated the previously required volunteer deposit to simplify the process for families and reduce our administrative burden. If this was your first year on an SBA team, this change did not affect you because we did not collect a volunteer deposit for this season.

If you are a returning family who previously paid the $450 volunteer deposit and fulfilled the volunteer requirements, your account has been credited for the deposit as follows:

  • If you had any outstanding invoices, the credit was applied to the invoice to reduce your outstanding balance.

  • If you did not have any outstanding invoices, you will receive a separate communication with options for your refund. Look for that communication soon.

If you have questions about the volunteer deposit, please contact admin@sbacademy.org.
