Sugar Bowl Academy Alumna Nordic Skier, Hannah Halvorsen Earns First U.S. Podium
Anchorage, AK (January 5, 2018) U.S. Cross-Country Ski Championships continued today with competitors tackling the 1.5km freestyle sprint. Race organizers prepared a new course for this year's championships, and it seemed to suit Sugar Bowl Academy alumna Hannah Halvorsen ('16) just fine. After qualifying third amongst U.S. athletes, Halvorsen made it through the quarter finals, semifinals and into the final round, where she again placed third amongst U.S. athletes for her first U.S. Senior National podium.
Halvorsen's younger brother Haydn (Sugar Bowl Academy '19) had a second stellar day on the trails, earning 9th amongst Junior competitors and fifth for U18 boys. This puts him in good position to earn a spot on the U.S. Team to the Scandinavian U18 Championships.
U.S. Cross-Country Ski Championships continue on Sunday with the mass start classic competitions. Schedule, results and information can be found at: http://www.usnationals2018.com
