Sugar Bowl Ski Team & Academy Freeride Athletes Podium at First TJFS Competition of the 2017 Season

Norden, CA (January 24, 2017) – Sugar Bowl Ski Team & Academy (SBSTA), hosted the 10th anniversary of the Tahoe Junior Freeride Series (TJFS) at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort last week securing podium finishes even in the face of the most challenging weather yet. TJFS is a four-stop regional event that competes in the Far West division with over 270 competitors. Competitors earn points towards the national IFSA ranking. The Far West teams were rewarded with epic powder conditions, perfect for the big mountain terrain of the Disney Nose at Sugar Bowl.

SBSTA Freerider competitors have been working hard throughout the fall to increase their strength and coordination through workouts in the gym and at Woodward. Trevor Tanhoff, Director of SBSTA Freeride Programs said, “The SBSTA Freeride Team has been training hard all year leading up to defend home turf  advantage and it paid off! Two of the four ski divisions were won by SBSTA student-athletes, Tallulah De Saint Phalle and Cooper Davis. Hallie Conyers-Tucker, a SBSTA senior, took 3rd place in the 15-to-18 year-old girls division. Other top 10 places included Louis Norris, Drake Riina and Cooper Patterson.”  This weekend, January 27-29, 2017 the SBSTA Freeride Team heads to Alpine Meadows for stop #2 of the TJFS!
