Located at Lake Tahoe, California, Sugar Bowl Academy is a fully accredited college preparatory high school for competitive skiers. It's a world-class ski academy for Alpine, Nordic and Freeride athletes.

LET'S GET STARTED.

WELCOME!

Because you're reading this, you're likely contemplating whether a college preparatory ski academy — and Sugar Bowl Academy in particular — is right for you. Know that our admission team understands the challenges that come with navigating secondary education choices, and we take great pride in doing everything we can to help you through the process in an honest, straightforward and thoughtful manner.

Certainly, we love talented students and athletes, but what we look for most is that you're a gracious and highly motivated individual — even if your accomplishments to date are relatively modest.

So much of what we do transcends the ostensibly narrow context of a ski academy. Slopes, trails and classrooms are undoubtedly means by which we seek and celebrate themes of education and life, but at any given moment, Sugar Bowl Academy student-athletes are also immersed in activities such as marine biology SCUBA dives off the Monterrey peninsula, contemplating the history of religion around the Great Salt Lake, studying Shakespearean productions at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival...and much, much more.

Have a look around our website for a glimpse of life at Sugar Bowl Academy, and remember that it's only a glimpse — visiting us in person is by far the best way to learn about all that our motivated student-athletes do.

THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS

Step 1: Complete the Student Inquiry Form.

This brief and easy-to-complete inquiry form will introduce you to us and let us know that you're interested.

Step 2: Schedule a Campus Visit and Interview.

In-person visits are strongly encouraged. For those who are unable, an online video interview is required. Your visit will include a campus tour, classroom visits, on-snow and/or dryland training sessions and meetings with the Head of School, our admission team and appropriate head coach. To schedule a Campus Visit and Interview, you must first complete the Student Inquiry Form (above). You can find directions to our campus here.

Step 3: Complete the Sugar Bowl Academy Application.

Once you've visited the school and we all agree Sugar Bowl Academy may be a good fit for you, you'll need to complete the 2017 - 2018  Sugar Bowl Academy application. The 2018 - 2019 Sugar Bowl Academy application is now live.  It's quite a bit longer than the inquiry form, but it will help us get to know you better and decide on your acceptance.

Step 4: Apply for Financial Aid

Sugar Bowl Academy offers need-based financial aid awards. Families who wish to apply for financial aid must complete and submit a Parent Financial Statement (PFS) to the School and Student Services (SSS) branch of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). The School and Student Services (SSS) Code for Sugar Bowl Academy is 3377.
