Sugar Bowl Academy Winter Term Program

In addition to its full year program, Sugar Bowl Academy offers a winter term program to both boarding (if space is available) and day students. The goal of the program is to provide an opportunity for young skiers to develop their alpine racing, Nordic racing, or Freeride skills through superior training opportunities while continuing their academic studies in a rigorous college preparatory school.

Sugar Bowl Academy offers winter term enrollment to students in grades 8-10, and an independent studies tutorial is offered to students in grades 5-7. In the 2011-2012 school year, the winter term program will observe two start dates. The five month program begins Monday, November 28th and runs through Friday, March 30th. Students wishing to complete a full semester in their home school may elect to enroll at SBA when school resumes after the holiday vacation on Monday, January 3rd. All 5th, 6th and 7th graders will begin on January 2rd and end March 30th.

Winter term students in grades 8-10 participate in the on-going Sugar Bowl Academy curriculum as much as possible. Detailed communication between SBA and a student's home school helps to determine the content covered. SBA welcomes input from parents, school counselors, and teachers from the student's home school about special projects or assignments that a child should complete while in attendance. The goal is to make the transition from the home school to Sugar Bowl Academy and then back again as seamless as possible. Occasionally this will require outside tutoring assistance.
