The Sugar Bowl Academy Science Department is structured with the goal of teaching students to adopt the methodology and habits of thinking like scientists. Our primary objective is to equip students with the analytical tools needed to examine our natural world and to be informed citizens when assessing current scientific and social issues. Whether through laboratory exploration, immersive place-based projects, group discussion or lecture, students have ample opportunity to hone observation skills, to develop and test hypotheses and to use data to support or refute assertions. It is our belief that developing curiosity and proficiency in scientific thought requires deep exploration of core topics using multiple representations. Thinking like a scientist often means working as part of a team. To this end, students collaborate daily in science classrooms.
