Nordic Program

The Sugar Bowl Academy Nordic program's is designed to provide world class training and racing opportunities for Nordic skiers who wish to compete and excel at the USSA Junior Olympics, within the local CNISSF school race league, and at international level junior competitions. Our primary goal is to provide the very best opportunities for each student-athlete to achieve their long term goals.

"The training opportunities and hours of personalized coaching time our Nordic athletes receive put them in the best position for breakthroughs."
Ambrose Tuscano, Asst. Nordic Coach and SBA Teacher

The SBA Nordic program is built on the idea that training should to be individualized for each athlete. One important aspect of this is maintaining a high coach to athlete ratio. Race schedules, training plans, and equipment selection are all based on the needs of each individual athlete. Goal setting and personal responsibility are integrated into the team philosophy, and everyone works together to help athletes reach their personal goals and potential.

The SBA Nordic team believes in a commitment to quality training. The team trains together six days a week and often joins with the Auburn Ski Club and/or the Far West senior team for joint workouts. Fall training is highly specific to Nordic skiing with an emphasis on rollerskiing while winter is comprised of on snow training six days per week. The team travels to West Yellowstone, Montana during the Thanksgiving week for early season on-snow training and to start the race season. Racing continues throughout the winter with a focus on Junior Olympic qualifying races, exposure to racing with the top juniors from outside the Far West Division, and participation in the local CNISSF school race league.
