Norden, CA (February 1, 2017) - Sugar Bowl Ski Team & Academy (SBSTA), The World Junior Championships taking place in Soldier Hollow, UT are a chance for the United States to shine on the world circuit in Nordic skiing. This event is Hannah’s first opportunity to compete at the World Junior level after competing in the 2016 Youth Olympic Games in Norway. Martin Benes, Director of Nordic Programs at Sugar Bowl Academy said, “She spent considerable time over the summer and fall working on her classic sprinting, it was good to see that focused effort pay off. She has improved technically and fitness-wise where she can be competitive with the best junior women in the World.”
Fasterskier, quoting Hannah after the race, “I felt confident that I skied tactically well in the quarter and that if I did the same and still felt strong I could move on from the semi. Unfortunately the pace was just too fast for me. I am really happy with my first world junior race. I have been looking forward to this race for a long time and I dreamed of a podium today, however I skied my best and was not fast enough.” Hannah placed sixth in the semifinals and eleventh overall. The hard work and dedication through intense workouts is paying off for Hannah at Sugar Bowl Academy. Martin said, “It is affirming that the preparation that we do here at SBA is competitive on an International level. Hannah is continuing to ski well and impress us with her dedication.
