SUGAR BOWL SKI TEAM & ACADEMY EARNS GOLD-CERTIFICATION THROUGH THE USSA PODIUM CERTIFICATION PROCESS

USSA Club Development Announces New Podium Certified Clubs

Norden, CA, December 1, 2015, Sugar Bowl Ski Team & Academy (SBST&A), SBSTA received the highest level of certification awarded by the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA). This is the second year USSA has awarded club certification, sixteen teams applied for certification and nine clubs were certified as gold. The certification process involves a peer review of best principles and practices for ski clubs. All gold and silver certified clubs had an on-site visit and a peer review conducted by the USSA High Performance staff and club consultants who are leaders in the ski community. The clubs were recognized on May 13th at the USSA Congress in Park City UT.

Brian Krill, USSA Club Development Manager commented, “The group of clubs we worked with this season, and the next ones on deck, represent a more and more diverse mix of clubs on many levels. This process will prove beneficial especially to clubs that may not have gotten as much attention from USSA as others in the past.”

Club consultant Steve Cohan said, “The structured certification process not only systematically works through the prescribed materials but also provides the opportunity to dig deep into real-world issues facing these clubs.”
