New Campus Planning Underway

The Sugar Bowl Ski Team Foundation has kicked-off a project to relocate SBA to a new ski-in/ski-out campus location at Sugar Bowl Resort. Consistent with the Foundation’s mission, “Dedicated to the Whole Child—Mind, Body and Spirit,” the Foundation will be developing world-class facilities to further enhance the success of their programs and create the nation’s only ski-in-out ski academy campus. Classroom, dormitory, dining and training facilities will be built on the new campus location giving SBA student-athletes even greater advantage as they pursue their academic and athletic dreams. The facilities will allow SBA to accommodate recent growth and ultimately the athletic and academic needs of a student body of up to 75.

The Sugar Bowl Corporation Board of Directors has approved locating the SBA campus on corporate lands. Benefitting from the teamwork and expertise of Sugar Bowl Corporation, SBSTF board and staff are hard at work to finalize plans to bring the new campus development to life over the next 30 months. Details of the new campus location and facilities will be made available, as they become known. We look forward to engaging the entire Sugar Bowl community on this exciting project.

As the new campus project progresses, we will relocate SBA classrooms to a new location on Sugar Bowl Resort property in time for the September 2011 start of school. Thanks to Sugar Bowl Corporation, we have secured the temporary use of a pleasant, wooded area located just a short distance from Sugar Bowl’s Village Hall and Disney lift. This temporary location will enable SBA to immediately expand and improve classroom space. Further, the classroom move will increase the size and optimize current SBA facilities for dormitory and athletic training use. The leaders of SBA and the Foundation are working on a plan to manage the smooth operation of a dual campus. Details regarding the classroom move and logistics for next year will be communicated to students and parents before year-end.
